One of the Reception children asked their Mummy on the way to nursery, "What happens if you put blue tac in water?" The Reception room decided to do a little impromptu experiment to show the children what would happen!

Today, our Reception staff have been focusing on supporting the children's personal, emotional and social skills. This activity follows our feelings box session yesterday, where we looked at a focussed emotions story and then had conversations about how we felt and why.

Not only does the snow provide impromptu learning for the children, it also gives me, as manager, an impromptu staff observation opportunity that I couldn't miss! Hearing all the fun, giggles and excitement coming from the garden I had to watch and I am so glad I did!

Well what a year 2020 has been. It's brought challenges none of us have had to face before but we are so proud of how we have all pulled together as a team, as an industry and as a country to somehow make it to Christmas, whatever that may look like this year. We hope that you all have a very happy Christmas Day and we are all looking forward to a happier and healthier 2021.

Did you know there are many uses for playdough? It helps to develop our fine motor skills as well as our hand-eye coordination. It's calming for children and encourages creativity as well as social skills and it can also be used to support and promote both literacy and mathematical skills.

All the rooms have been taking part in a variety of Easter activities this week and the nursery has been full of fun, joy and laughter.
It has been fun to watch the children hunt high and low for their eggs on our Easter egg hunt. It was such a simple way to introduce prepositions into play to help develop the childrens' knowledge and understanding further.

We had a police woman come and speak to us about the work she does and how she helps us, we even got to role play in her uniform and some of the equipment she uses.

On Monday 2nd October we are holding a coffee morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
If you are free at any time between 9:30am and 11am, feel free to come along with your family and friends for a coffee and a cake, or perhaps some tea and biscuits! It's also a great way for parents to get to know one another.
